I’m looking forward to speaking at UNIDO’s Green Zone event on “Advancing Blue Industry for Sustainable Development” as part of the UN Ocean Conference in Nice.
🗓️Advancing Blue Industry for Sustainable Development: Strengthening Trade and Seafood Value Chains in the Blue Economy
📍Green Zone, Ocean Sustainability: Trade and Food House, La Baleine, Palais des Expositions, Nice, France
⏰Wednesday, 11th June 2025, 15:00 16:30 CEST
🌊Last year I supported the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on its Blue Industry strategy, culminating in the publication of “Blueprint for Sustainable Development: UNIDOs Blue Industry Contribution to the Blue Economy Agenda”. This side event at the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) will provide a platform to discuss key contributions to sustainable blue economy efforts, including innovative policies, financing mechanisms, cross-sectoral partnerships, and especially the role of trade in seafoods and water-based products. It will present ongoing initiatives, such as the UNIDO Blue Industry Strategic Framework, and examples of successful programmes that have supported economic transformation, enhanced competitiveness of seafood value chains, restored ecosystems, and built resilience in coastal communities.
