Winners announced for Ocean Changemakers Challenge 2022

Three inspiring innovators, leading the way for a sustainable ocean economy, have won the World Ocean Initiativeā€™s Ocean Changemakers Challenge, supported by Destination Canada. The competition aims to showcase the outstanding changemakersā€”mainly early-career researchers or professionalsā€”working to develop business solutions to ocean-related sustainability challenges.

From 84 finalised entries, our jury selected 10 shortlisted candidates, among which were chosen the three winning entries:

ā€¢ Tom Loefler, CEO, Hullbot
ā€¢ Miranda Alldritt, chief business officer, Bioform Technologies
ā€¢ Nadia Febina, co-founder, Lumare Energi

The World Ocean Initiative team had the pleasure of meeting the three winners during a special changemakers session at the World Ocean Tech and Innovation Summit in Halifax in October. To help bring the changemakersā€™ ideas to life, winners were awarded guidance from three renowned ocean leaders as part of a 12-month mentorship programme. The World Ocean Initiative will report on their progress over the next 12 months. Stay tuned!
