Celebrating women in the ocean economy

Economist Impactā€™s tenth annual World Ocean Summit & Expo took place from February 27th to March 1st in Lisbon, Portugal. The summit featured 188 speakers in more than 50 sessions across the three days, attracting more than 1,500 registered attendees to discuss ocean climate solutions, ocean science and data, blue food, finance, shipping, plastics and more. The World Ocean Initiative features summary articles of several key sessions from the summit.

The month of March also celebrated International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month. Gender diversity and equality are an integral part of building a sustainable ocean economy. The multifaceted achievements of women in the ocean were visible throughout the World Ocean Summit, as highlighted through our coverage this month.
